Rich History Lingers in the Present

Plymouth was settled in 1825, incorporated as a village in 1867, and became a city in 1932. It was founded by William Starkweather and his wife Keziah when they brought their firstborn son, Albert, to the area and built their first home, which located at what is now the corner of Main Street and Ann Arbor Trail. Years later in 1867, William's son, George Starkweather, convinced the Detroit and Howell Railroad Company to build in Plymouth. The newly added railroad and manufacturing companies, like Daisy Outdoor Products, helped give rise to the bustling and thriving culture of present-day Plymouth.
